UFC icon Dustin Poirier has released a public statement on social media after getting arrested for alleged public intoxication on Father’s Day.
‘The Diamond’ appeared agitated after allegedly being removed from a flight. Recent footage surfaced online showing Poirier hurling insults and threatening to fight airport security personnel. The entire exchange was captured on the officer’s bodycam, with the officer repeatedly attempting to calm the former UFC interim lightweight champion down.
After those efforts failed, the situation escalated to the point where the officer drew his taser as a precautionary measure. Poirier was subsequently arrested and escorted away by police.
The 38-year-old recently shared an Instagram story in which he admitted that he is currently not in the best place in life and is struggling with alcohol. Poirier wrote
“I’m at the point where I need some help, walking away from fighting hasn’t been easy on me and alcohol isn’t the answer.
It has ruined my father’s life and I will not allow it to ruin mine, my family deserve me at 100%.
I’m trying to do everything I can to get my mind right and take the right next steps.”
