Usman Nurmagomedov has added another intriguing chapter to the growing speculation surrounding his next career move after sharing a new image of himself inside a UFC-branded training environment.
The undefeated lightweight was pictured standing in front of UFC-branded posts in an image highlighted by Home of Fight, alongside the message:
“At a high level, talent no longer matters. The one who can stay longer in the fight decides it.”

The timing of the post is nevertheless notable. Nurmagomedov is currently the biggest free agent in MMA after completing his PFL contract with a dominant first-round stoppage of Archie Colgan on July 31. The victory preserved his unbeaten professional record at 22-0 and marked his second successful defense of the PFL lightweight title.
UFC Move Remains the Major Question
Usman Nurmagomedov’s future has become one of the biggest storylines in MMA since his PFL deal expired. UFC CEO Dana White has already acknowledged the promotion’s interest in signing the Dagestani lightweight, responding “sure” when asked about the possibility before later reinforcing the speculation with a smiling emoji on social media.
The UFC would represent a significant competitive step for Nurmagomedov, who has spent the bulk of his championship run outside the promotion. He captured the Bellator lightweight title in 2022 before becoming the inaugural PFL lightweight champion following the organization’s acquisition of Bellator. His recent win over Colgan was his latest statement as one of the world’s leading 155-pound fighters outside the UFC.
The possibility of a move has also received strong backing from within Nurmagomedov’s own circle. UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev has publicly encouraged his longtime teammate to test himself against the UFC’s best, while UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier recently urged Nurmagomedov to prioritize legacy and compete against the division’s elite.
Usman Nurmagomedov’s UFC Arrival Could Reshape Lightweight Division
Usman Nurmagomedov would enter the UFC with an undefeated 22-0 record and substantial championship experience. His résumé includes a Bellator lightweight title reign, multiple successful title defenses and his PFL championship run, giving him considerably more experience than the typical fighter entering the UFC for the first time.
His potential arrival is particularly compelling because the UFC lightweight division has no shortage of elite competition. His manager Ali Abdelaziz has already suggested Ilia Topuria as a possible debut opponent, while coach Javier Mendez has identified Topuria and Arman Tsarukyan among the toughest potential matchups for Nurmagomedov.
For now, the image should not be interpreted as confirmation that Nurmagomedov has signed with the UFC. He remains a free agent, and reports indicate that negotiations over his future are still ongoing.
However, seeing the 28-year-old alongside UFC branding will inevitably fuel speculation. With his PFL contract complete and the UFC openly interested, Nurmagomedov’s next move could determine whether one of MMA’s most dominant non-UFC champions finally gets the opportunity to test himself against the world’s best at 155 pounds.
