UFC welterweight Ian Garry has predicted a fourth-round finish in his upcoming bout against reigning welterweight champion Islam Makhachev in the UFC 330 headliner this August.

Garry has been on an impressive run in the UFC and has been targeting a blockbuster Ireland vs. Dagestan clash ever since Makhachev moved up to the 170-pound division.

The bout will mark Makhachev’s first title defence after he defeated Jack Della Maddalena to capture welterweight gold in his last outing. Meanwhile, Garry has picked up impressive wins over Carlos Prates and Belal Muhammad since suffering a setback against Shavkat Rakhmonov.

In a recent interview, the Irishman has stated that he is aiming for four rounds of domination against the current pound-for-pound king. Garry said:

“My ideal scenario? I want a 4th round finish. I don’t want any early knockout, because then there’s ifs, buts and maybes, and excuses.

I want four rounds of domination, and in that fourth round I’m gonna tell everyone, ‘I’m gonna do it now’, then I’m gonna finish him.”

Georges St-Pierre and Jon Jones share predictions for Islam Makhachev vs Ian Garry

UFC icon Georges St-Pierre has shared his prediction for the upcoming clash between Islam Makhachev and Ian Garry. ‘Rush’ believes Makhachev will have the advantage if he takes the fight to the mat, but favours Garry in a stand-up battle. St-Pierre said:

“Ian Garry is a very good striker, but if Islam can take him down, he’ll have the advantage. If Ian keeps it standing, he’ll have the advantage. Islam is more complete. He can do everything, especially in close-range fighting, and that’s what he’ll try to use.”

“I’m going with Islam because he has a wrestling background, and it’s very hard to beat wrestlers.

Islam may just be one of the greatest fighters in the world. Right now, it’s me and maybe him. So I encourage him to keep going.”
