Conor McGregor and Max Holloway Officially Set for UFC 329 Main Event

Conor McGregor and Max Holloway first met back in August 2013 at UFC Fight Night 26 in Boston. On that occasion, McGregor defeated Holloway via unanimous decision despite suffering a torn ACL during the bout.

Since then, both fighters have built Hall of Fame-caliber careers.

The Notorious‘ became the UFC’s first simultaneous two-division champion after capturing featherweight and lightweight gold, while Holloway established himself as one of the greatest featherweights in MMA history, defending the 145-pound title three times and setting multiple UFC striking records.

Saturday’s rematch will take place at welterweight, marking McGregor’s first fight in several years and Holloway’s first appearance since his knockout loss to Ilia Topuria earlier this year.

The ceremonial weigh-ins also showcased the contrasting mindsets of both men. McGregor appeared animated throughout the event and repeatedly engaged with fans, while Holloway remained composed and largely unfazed by the Irishman’s antics.

The stakes are significant for both fighters.

A victory for McGregor would instantly re-establish him as one of the UFC’s biggest active stars and potentially open the door to several blockbuster matchups. For Holloway, defeating McGregor would add another major name to his résumé and strengthen his case for another run at championship contention.

With both men successfully making weight, UFC 329’s headline bout is now official.

After more than a decade of waiting, McGregor and Holloway will finally share the Octagon once again on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
