Arman Tsarukyan Competes in HYROX Just One Day After Submission Win Over Ankit Baiyanpuria

Arman Tsarukyan, HYROX

Arman Tsarukyan wasted little time getting back into action after his latest victory.

Just a day after submitting Indian fitness influencer Ankit Baiyanpuria with an armbar in the opening minutes of their submission-only main event at Hype Armenia, the No.2-ranked UFC lightweight contender competed in a HYROX fitness race, further showcasing the elite conditioning that has become a hallmark of his career.

Tsarukyan shared footage from the event on social media, describing it as his first HYROX competition. The functional fitness race combines eight one-kilometer runs with demanding workout stations, including sled pushes, sled pulls, rowing, burpee broad jumps, sandbag lunges, farmer’s carries and wall balls, making it one of the toughest endurance events in the world.

The appearance came less than 24 hours after Tsarukyan dominated Baiyanpuria in Armenia. Competing under submission-only rules, the Armenian quickly established control on the ground before securing a first-round armbar finish. Baiyanpuria had entered the contest after spending weeks training in Dagestan to prepare for the biggest combat sports challenge of his career, but Tsarukyan’s high-level grappling proved too much to overcome.

Arman Tsarukyan is staying active ahead of reported UFC 331 return

Although many fighters would opt for recovery following competition, Arman Tsarukyan instead chose to test himself in an entirely different discipline. His decision to enter a HYROX event immediately after competing reflects the relentless work ethic that has helped establish him as one of the UFC’s top lightweights.

The 29-year-old is reportedly set to return to the Octagon later this year in a rematch against former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira at UFC 331. While the promotion has yet to officially announce the bout, it is widely expected to carry major implications in the lightweight title picture.

Tsarukyan defeated Oliveira via split decision at UFC 300 in one of the division’s most competitive contests, earning his place among the elite at 155 pounds. A second victory over the former champion would further strengthen his case for a shot at reigning UFC lightweight champion Justin Gaethje.

For now, however, Tsarukyan continues to stay active outside the Octagon. From submitting Baiyanpuria in Armenia to completing a HYROX race the very next day, the Armenian contender has once again demonstrated why he is regarded as one of the hardest-working athletes in mixed martial arts.
