Dustin Poirier, who has shared the octagon three times with both Conor McGregor and Max Holloway, recently gave his thoughts on whether the Irishman would be willing to stand and bang if Holloway points to the center in the final 10 seconds of their UFC 329 rematch.

Poirier has felt how dangerous “Blessed” can be in pocket exchanges. In the Louisiana native’s retirement fight, Holloway’s willingness to throw down in the final 10 seconds of the trilogy forced “The Diamond” to clinch to avoid getting knocked out.

Dustin Poirier says Conor McGregor won’t be game to meet Max Holloway in the center of the octagon at UFC 329, if “Blessed” points down

While McGregor has been going all out in preparation for his comeback and is even living in the gym, “The Diamond” believes that may not be enough to match Max Holloway’s speed and volume on the feet. In a recent interview with UFC on Paramount+, Poirier said:

“I don’t think Conor is going to be in physical shape to throw down with Max like that.”

However, Poirier has also warned Max Holloway about Conor McGregor’s power. “The Diamond,” during an appearance on the WEIGHING IN podcast, opined that even after five years of inactivity, the former UFC double champ is expected to return with the same sniper-like precision and punching power at UFC 329. Hence, if McGregor still possesses the timing and counter-punching ability, he has a solid chance of defeating Max Holloway for a second time. Poirier said:

“I don’t think Conor’s gonna look as bad as Nate, bro. I think the punching power is gonna be there regardless. Conor is gonna come back from injury and still have that natural punching power. The question for me is timing, athleticism, and movement. If his timing is anywhere near what it was, Conor has a chance to beat Max. Max has touched the canvas in his last three fights more than he’s touched it in his entire career.”
