Arman Tsarukyan was recently asked a hypothetical question about a potential fight against Tom Aspinall and how he thinks the matchup would play out.
Aspinall, the reigning UFC heavyweight champion, is currently on a hiatus after double eye surgery. The Brit was poked in both eyes by Ciryl Gane at UFC 321 last year. Unable to continue due to compromised vision, Aspinall was ruled unable to fight on, and the bout was declared a no-contest, allowing the champion to retain his title.
Following the bout, the 33-year-old underwent medical evaluations and scans that revealed the extent of the damage. Earlier this year, he also underwent double eye surgery and, to this day, has not been medically cleared by doctors to compete.
However, Aspinall remains hopeful that in a couple of months, he will be cleared to spar and expects to enter the octagon by the end of the year.
In his absence, Gane and Alex Pereira will fight for the interim UFC 265-pound championship on June 14 at the White House.
Coming back to Arman Tsarukyan. The Armenian last fought in 2025 at UFC Qatar, where he submitted Dan Hooker in Round 2. After that, the 29-year-old expected a title shot but was denied due to his antics inside and outside the UFC.
In 2026, “Ahalkalakets” has stayed super busy with media appearances, RAF commitments, and his duties under the HYPE FC banner, all while continuing to rack up accolades and keep his name in the spotlight.
Tsarukyan now expects to fight for the BMF title in September, and for now, he will serve as backup for the UFC Freedom 250 main event, which features a lightweight title unification bout between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje.
