The September 12 Noche UFC card in Glendale, Arizona has lost its scheduled headliner. Yair Rodríguez has withdrawn from his featherweight main event against Jean Silva, with the reason for the withdrawal not yet made public.
UFC Scrambling for Solution
The promotion is working to keep Jean Silva on the card and is now searching for a replacement opponent. It remains unclear whether Silva will stay in the main event slot or whether a different fight already booked for three rounds will be elevated to headline status instead. The news was confirmed by multiple sources, following an initial report from AG Fight.
Yair Rodriguez’s Recent Run
This was set to be Yair Rodriguez’s first appearance on a Noche UFC card. The former interim featherweight champion had been eyeing a possible move up in weight class but ultimately signed on to face Jean Silva at 145 pounds. His last outing came in April of last year, a win over Patricio Pitbull that snapped a two-fight losing streak. No timeline has been given for when he’ll return to the Octagon.
Jean Silva’s Recent Form
‘Lord’ was booked for a second straight Noche UFC appearance. He headlined last year’s edition against fellow Brazilian Diego Lopes but lost via second-round TKO. Since then, he’s rebounded with a unanimous decision win over Arnold Allen.
For now, Silva’s spot on the card is intact, but his opponent and his position on the card are both up in the air as the UFC looks to fill the void left by Rodríguez’s exit.
