UFC 329 Bout in Jeopardy After Injury Withdrawal

UFC 329

UFC 329 has taken its first hit ahead of International Fight Week.

Bantamweight prospect Ethyn Ewing has been pulled from the UFC 329 card due to an undisclosed injury, with officials now actively searching for a replacement to face Farid Basharat on the early prelims. The news was first confirmed by Best Fight Picks on Twitter.

What Both Fighters Bring

Farid Basharat is one of the UFC’s unbeaten bantamweight prospects at 15-0 with a perfect 6-0 promotional record, and his last outing at UFC Vegas 113 in February ended in the tightest of split decisions over Jean Matsumoto.

The 28-year-old has been quietly building a case as one of the division’s most consistent rising names. His now-missing opponent, Ethyn Ewing, had made a serious impression in his two UFC appearances despite barely getting started at this level.

The former A1 Combat champion arrived on short notice for his debut at UFC 322 in November and pulled off a genuine upset before following it up with a clean liver kick finish at UFC Vegas 115 in April.

Two fights, two impressive performances, and now an injury that has wiped out what looked like a genuinely interesting stylistic matchup. The UFC is searching for a replacement and the early prelim slot remains open heading into fight week.
