Paddy Pimblett Snaps at Reporter Over England Question Ahead of UFC 329 Co-Headliner

UFC 329

Paddy Pimblett did not have much patience for football talk during UFC 329 fight week.

Pimblett is set for one of the biggest fights of his career this weekend when he faces Benoit Saint-Denis in the UFC 329 co-main event. With Conor McGregor vs. Max Holloway headlining the card, the Scouser’s clash with Saint-Denis carries major stakes in a packed lightweight division.

But during media day, one question briefly pulled the focus away from fighting.

A reporter asked Pimblett whether he was more excited for his own fight or England’s football match against Norway in the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals. The question clearly did not land well with ‘The Baddy’, who immediately fired back with a blunt response. The 31-year-old said:

“What do you think, lad? Something that 11 other fellas are gonna do or something that I am going to do? That was a bad question.”

Paddy Pimblett Makes It Clear Where His Focus Is Before Benoit Saint-Denis Fight

It was a classic Paddy Pimblett answer. Short, sharp, and completely unwilling to entertain the idea that anything could matter more than his own fight week.

The timing makes sense. Pimblett is not walking into an ordinary matchup at UFC 329. Saint-Denis is one of the most dangerous lightweights in the division, a relentless pressure fighter with finishing ability and serious momentum behind him.

God of War‘ is coming into the bout on the back of a dominant victory over Dan Hooker. Meanwhile, Pimblett suffered a humbling defeat to newly-crowned lightweight champion Justin Gaethje in his last outing. A win over the Frenchman this weekend would be the biggest victory of Pimblett’s UFC career and could push him much closer to the top of the lightweight ladder.

That is why the reaction felt so immediate. England may have a major game, but Pimblett is days away from stepping into a cage with a fighter who can change the direction of his career in one night.

The UFC 329 co-headliner also gives Pimblett a rare platform. With McGregor and Holloway drawing global attention in the main event, a statement win over Saint-Denis would be seen by a massive audience. For a fighter who has always understood the value of a big moment, this is exactly the kind of stage he has been chasing.

Pimblett has never been short on personality, but this was not just a funny exchange. It was a reminder of where his head is at.

Football can wait. UFC 329 cannot.
