Jacobe Smith Left Waiting After Kevin Holland Injury Withdrawal

The withdrawal is a major setback for Jacobe Smith, who was set for the biggest fight of his career in Oklahoma City. The 30-year-old is unbeaten as a professional and currently holds a 12-0 MMA record.

Smith has started his UFC run strongly. He submitted Niko Price in the second round at UFC 317, then followed it up with a finish win against Josiah Harrell at UFC Fight Night: Strickland vs. Hernandez on Feb. 21, 2026.

A win over Kevin Holland would have been a significant step up for Smith. ‘Trailblazer’ is one of the most experienced names in the welterweight division, with a 29-15 record and one no contest. He was also coming off a unanimous decision win over Randy Brown in his last outing.

For Holland, the injury stops his attempt to build momentum after that Brown victory. The 33-year-old has been one of the UFC’s most active fighters in recent years, competing across both middleweight and welterweight.

There is no official word yet on whether the UFC will keep Smith on the card against a replacement opponent. With the event taking place on July 18, the promotion has limited time to find a short-notice option.

UFC Oklahoma City is scheduled to be headlined by Dricus du Plessis vs. Kamaru Usman.
