UFC Hall of Famer Jose Aldo most recently lauded Team Fighting Nerds’ Jean Silva.
The former UFC featherweight titleholder believes his fellow Brazilian has what it takes to become a champion soon, and that Silva can even knock out legends like Alexander Volkanovski.

During a recent sitdown with Covers.com, “Junior” opined that current and two-time UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski prefers matchups where the risk of an unexpected knockout or any other unpredictable outcome is minimized, adding that if he were in the Australian champion’s position, he would probably make the same decision.
Volkanovski is expected to lock horns with the top contender, the undefeated Movsar Evloev, next.
However, Aldo believes Silva will be a much tougher opponent for “The Great,” as “Lord” is “aggressive,” “unpredictable,” and capable of making a fight difficult.
“Volkanovski has completely figured the game out. Nowadays, he prefers more controlled fights with less risk, and I understand that. If I were in his position, I’d also be looking for opponents who present fewer dangers than someone like Jean Silva, who is aggressive, unpredictable, and capable of making a fight very difficult.”
Aldo believes the only way to stop Jean Silva’s surge is to “match him up with a difficult Russian wrestler.” He added:
“Jean Silva, I see him as a fighter with every tool necessary to get there. If they don’t match him up with a difficult Russian wrestler beforehand, I believe he has every chance of fighting for the belt and even knocking out Volkanovski.”
Silva, who defeated Arnold Allen earlier this year, was hoping to challenge Alexander Volkanovski for the featherweight title next.
However, after Evloev delivered a dominant performance against then previously-undefeated Lerone Murphy at UFC London, he ended any realistic chance Silva had of securing the next championship opportunity.
