This past weekend, Jiri Prochazka was real close to winning the light heavyweight strap for the second time in his UFC career.

However, the Czech fighter chose mercy over victory, a mistake due to which he ended up in the shadow realm.

Prochazka locked horns with Carlos Ulberg in the main event of UFC 327, and from the opening minute of the bout, the former busted up the Kiwi’s lead leg, and the latter could barely stand or move. However, the former champion did not go for the final kill and tried to play Max Holloway by calling “Black Jag” in the middle to trade.

Meanwhile, Ulberg, on one leg, landed a perfectly timed left hook that sent Prochazka crashing to the canvas. A semiconscious Prochazka tried to roll back and seek cover to recover, but Ulberg landed bombs from the top to secure the KO win and the UFC light heavyweight gold.

Jiri Prochazka wants to run it back with Carlos Ulberg

After the most disappointing loss of his career, a fight many believe was his to win had he pushed for the finish instead of chasing flashy moments, Jiri Prochazka now wants to run it back with Carlos Ulberg. After the fight, the 33-year-old said:

“I still can’t understand my stupid mercy in the fight. That cost me this fight. I would like to fight a rematch because, man, that was my fight. I just gave him this opportunity to catch me. Big apologies to everyone.”
