Conor McGregor’s Black Forge Inn: The Pub He Promised He’d Buy as a Young Boy and Then Actually Did

Conor McGregor's Black Forge Inn

The Black Forge Inn in Drimnagh, Dublin, is not just a pub. For Conor McGregor, it is proof that every word he has ever said about himself has been backed up.

Long before the UFC titles, the whiskey brand, and the pay-per-view records, there was a young McGregor standing outside this very pub, trying to get in.

How It Started for Conor McGregor

Conor McGregor told the Black Forge Inn story himself with the kind of detail only someone who genuinely lived it could deliver.

“How it even began was I was trying to get into the place. So, I was only a young boy. We couldn’t get in. So, I had to kind of sweet-talk the former owner, who works for me now, Liam. I was like, I’m going to buy this one day, and we’re going to do this. We’re going to do that. I go on ahead, son. Go on. You can go in and have a little buzz, and then I’d be running around having a bit of fun in the pub.”

The Mystic Mac prediction did come true:

“Yeah. It came to fruition. I done what I said I was going to do. I came back, and I bought the pub, renovated it, built it up. We say this pub has heart and soul. It’s a great service to the community. It brings many tourists here to this great area. Very happy with it.”

Conor McGregor Never Left His Roots Behind

The Black Forge Inn is Conor McGregor’s most personal statement because it sits in the community that built him. ‘The Notorious’ said:

“I always celebrated my surroundings where I came from. I never thought I must go away to develop my skills. I always believed in what I was doing here, and it’s still the same. I’m still rocking around the way. I take great inspiration from the many hardworking men and women across this island. I fight for them, and it is an honor to do so. To grow up in Ireland is a blessing from God himself, and I thank him every day for it.”

What Comes Next for ‘The Notorious

On July 11 at UFC 329 in Las Vegas, Conor McGregor fights Max Holloway in the most anticipated comeback bout in MMA history. The boy who talked his way into a Dublin pub and then bought it will now attempt to remind the world why he is still the biggest name the sport has ever produced.
