Ilia Topuria has announced he’s officially through the medical process and ready to return, and he wasted no time going after the people he blames for his last outing.
Topuria has accused Gaethje of having something unusual in his gloves during their first fight, with some even previously alleging that the American had rocks inside them.
Ilia Topuria’s Statement: “Final Medical Tests Done. I’m Back.”
“Final medical tests done. I’m back. To all the clowns who’ve been talking shit and counting me out this whole time, here I am. Now let’s see who’s got the balls. Thanks to everyone for the support. Next time I’ll make sure they check Justin’s gloves so he doesn’t put anything weird on them. See you soon,” Topuria wrote on X.
He followed that up with a far blunter second post:
“By the way Justin, fu*k you. And Ali, f*ck you too.”
The Injuries That Sidelined Ilia Topuria
The comments come after a brutal night at UFC Freedom 250 on the White House South Lawn, where Ilia Topuria suffered the first loss of his professional career and also his lightweight title to Justin Gaethje. His corner stopped the fight between the fourth and fifth rounds after he sustained non-displaced fractures to both orbital bones and a broken nose. Reports indicated his right eye was closed by the end of the first round and that he had lost vision in both eyes by the fourth, which is what prompted the stoppage.
Topuria was subsequently handed a 180-day medical suspension, the maximum issued by the Association of Boxing Commissions, pending clearance from an oral and maxillofacial specialist. Notably, no surgery was required, meaning his recovery came down to healing time and medical sign-off rather than operations.

When Will Ilia Topuria Fight Again?
Ilia Topuria’s physical trainer has indicated he’ll be ready to compete from February 2027. With clearance now confirmed and Gaethje still weighing his own future after his own injury issues, Topuria’s push for a rematch is clearly back on the table, and judging by his posts, he’s not planning to ask politely.
