Daniel Hooker is set to headline UFC Fight Night: Hooker vs. Parnasse this weekend at the Accor Arena in Paris, France. His opponent is Salahdine Parnasse, a heavily hyped French prospect making his long-awaited UFC debut on home soil.
Who Is Salahdine Parnasse, Dan Hooker’s Opponent?
Salahdine Parnasse is a French-Moroccan mixed martial artist and boxer who now competes in the UFC’s lightweight division. Before signing with the UFC, Parnasse built his reputation in KSW, where he became the promotion’s lightweight champion and a two-time featherweight champion, holding the lightweight title until his departure from the organization.
That run made him the fourth two-division champion in KSW history. He also has experience competing in Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) and 100% Fight. Parnasse enters his UFC debut with a 23-2 record and 15 finishes to his name.
Daniel Preston Hooker Enters as a Massive Underdog
Despite being the more experienced UFC fighter, Dan Hooker is being counted out by oddsmakers, entering the fight as a significant underdog. That skepticism comes on the back of a rough stretch, with Hooker having dropped his last two bouts, a submission loss to Arman Tsarukyan and a TKO defeat to Benoit Saint Denis. At 36 years old, Hooker will be looking to snap that skid against a debuting opponent many believe could be an immediate threat at 155 pounds.
