Quillan Salkilld, Benoit Saint-Denis

Quillan Salkilld already has his next opponent in mind after announcing himself as a serious lightweight contender with a stunning first-round submission of Mateusz Gamrot at UFC Vegas 120.

Speaking at the post-fight press conference, Salkilld revealed that he would be interested in facing Benoit Saint-Denis next, pointing to the Frenchman’s recent fight with Paddy Pimblett as a reason the matchup could come together quickly.

Quillan Salkilld Targets Benoit Saint-Denis Next

Quillan Salkilld believes Saint Denis could be an ideal opponent because he should be ready to return to action following his recent bout. He said:

“I think BSD is good because that fight [against Paddy Pimblett] was not too long ago, and he didn’t take any damage from that fight.”

The Australian also acknowledged the practical side of the matchup, suggesting ‘God of War’ could already be back in the gym and preparing for his next appearance.

“He’d probably be back in the gym, ready to go, so I’ll just say that because that just seems like a more sure thing that could happen.”

The potential matchup would also give Salkilld another opportunity to prove that his dominant performance against Gamrot was no fluke. Saint Denis brings a completely different style and is known for his pressure, physicality, and willingness to engage in dangerous exchanges.

Saint Denis suffered a first-round submission loss to Pimblett at UFC 329, but emerged from the fight without taking significant damage, making a quick turnaround a possibility.

Salkilld Wants Fast Rise Through Lightweight Division

For Salkilld, the timing could make Saint Denis a realistic next step after his statement victory over Gamrot.

The Australian has already called for a top-five opponent as he looks to accelerate his rise through the lightweight rankings. A matchup with Saint Denis would provide another significant test against one of the division’s most dangerous and aggressive contenders.

After submitting Gamrot in the first round, Salkilld has made it clear that he is ready for the biggest challenges available.
