UFC CEO Dana White believes mixed martial arts may produce future superstars, but insists there will never be another athlete capable of replicating Conor McGregor’s impact on the sport.
Speaking on The Pivot Podcast, White reflected on McGregor’s unparalleled rise, stating:
“There’s never gonna be another Conor McGregor. The time, and the place, and the way he came into the sport. There’ll be another superstar, but there will never be another Conor.”

Conor McGregor’s Unmatched Rise to Global Stardom
Few athletes have transformed an entire sport the way McGregor did between 2013 and 2018. The Irishman became the UFC’s first simultaneous two-division champion after defeating Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 and consistently shattered pay-per-view, attendance, and gate records throughout his career.
Beyond his accomplishments inside the cage, McGregor crossed into mainstream culture in a manner no MMA fighter had previously achieved. His rivalry with Khabib Nurmagomedov, crossover boxing bout against Floyd Mayweather, and larger-than-life personality turned him into one of the biggest combat sports stars in history.
White has repeatedly credited McGregor with helping elevate the UFC into a global powerhouse, alongside other icons such as Ronda Rousey.

The comments also arrive shortly after McGregor’s highly anticipated return at UFC 329. Fighting for the first time in more than five years, ‘The Notorious‘ faced Max Holloway in one of the most anticipated events in recent UFC history.
However, the comeback quickly turned disastrous. McGregor suffered a serious knee injury just 69 seconds into the contest while throwing a jumping switch kick, with Dana White later revealing fears that the Irishman had torn his ACL. The injury immediately cast doubt over his future and put any discussions regarding his next fight on hold.
Despite the unfortunate ending, McGregor’s return still generated staggering numbers, reportedly drawing nearly 16 million viewers and becoming one of the most-watched events in combat sports streaming history.
