Max Holloway Reacts to Drake’s $1 Million Bet on Conor McGregor Ahead of UFC 329

Max Holloway, Drake

Max Holloway has reacted to Drake placing a massive $1 million wager on Conor McGregor ahead of their UFC 329 rematch.

The Canadian rapper recently revealed that he has backed McGregor to defeat Holloway this weekend, adding another chapter to the infamous “Drake Curse” narrative that has followed high-profile sporting events for years.

Holloway, however, appeared more amused than concerned by the bet. He said:

“I think Drake actually is a Max Holloway fan because we know what happens when he bets. So shoutout to Drake.”

Max Holloway Jokes About the Infamous ‘Drake Curse’

The so-called “Drake Curse” has become a recurring joke among fans after several athletes and teams backed by the rapper have gone on to lose major events.

Over the years, Drake has been linked to defeats involving high-profile names such as Jorge Masvidal, Israel Adesanya, Jose Aldo, and several major sports franchises. While the trend is widely regarded as superstition, it has become a popular talking point whenever Drake publicly shares his bets.

Max Holloway clearly leaned into that narrative.

Holloway is set to face the Irishman for the second time on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Their first meeting took place in 2013, when ‘The Notorious’ earned a unanimous decision victory. A lot has changed since then.

‘Blessed’ has built a Hall of Fame résumé, winning the featherweight title, claiming the BMF belt, and becoming one of the most prolific strikers in UFC history. McGregor, meanwhile, went on to become the UFC’s first simultaneous two-division champion and one of MMA’s biggest attractions.

The rematch will take place at welterweight, with both men successfully making weight earlier this week.

While Drake’s $1 million bet has generated plenty of attention ahead of the event, Holloway does not appear to be paying much attention to it.

Instead, the Hawaiian seems happy to let fans continue joking about the “curse” as he prepares for one of the biggest fights of his career.

Whether Drake’s wager turns out to be a good omen or another addition to the curse narrative will be determined when Holloway and McGregor finally meet again at UFC 329.
