Former UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili couldn’t resist weighing in after Zlatan Ibrahimović took a shot at the U.S. men’s national team.
Following Belgium’s 4-1 demolition of the Americans in the World Cup round of 16, DoorDash rolled out an ad starring the retired Swedish striker, who delivered his trademark deadpan trolling:
“U.S. is out, so your American dream is over. Next time, call it football, not soccer, okay?”

The clip spread fast. ‘The Machine,’ no stranger to trash talk himself inside the octagon, reacted to the ad on Instagram, seemingly co-signing Zlatan’s jab at American soccer culture.

When Zlatan Ibrahimović Backed Umar Nurmagomedov After His Title Loss to Merab Dvalishvili
After Umar Nurmagomedov’s unanimous decision loss to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 311, Zlatan Ibrahimović sent him a message of support to the Russian fighter:
“I’ve seen your fights, don’t give up. Everything’s ahead of you. You’re still young, you’ve got everything in front of you. Keep training.”

The gesture carried extra weight given the circumstances. Umar fought through a broken hand suffered in the early rounds, unable to fully unload his signature power against Merab Dvalishvili’s relentless pace and record-setting takedown volume, yet still pushed the then-champion through a competitive five rounds.
