Max Holloway Predicts ‘Old Hawaii Style Beating’ for Conor McGregor Ahead of UFC 329

Former UFC featherweight and BMF champion Max Holloway has shared his prediction for his upcoming welterweight bout against Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 329 on July 11.

Holloway and McGregor are set to cross paths once again. The pair first met in a featherweight bout in 2013, with ‘The Notorious‘ emerging victorious on the night. However, both men have evolved significantly since their first meeting, which took place nearly 16 years ago. The highly anticipated rematch will also mark Holloway’s debut in the 170-pound division.

Blessed‘ enters the bout on the back of a unanimous decision loss to reigning BMF champion Charles Oliveira. Meanwhile, the Irishman has not competed since suffering a serious leg injury in his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier in 2021, bringing an end to a five-year layoff when he returns.

During a recent interview, Holloway shared his prediction for the upcoming clash. The Hawaiian stated:

“We drown him. I’m gonna give him an old Hawaii style beating.”

Max Holloway’s Pace Could Test Conor McGregor’s Cardio at UFC 329

Max Holloway’s words are not without merit. He is known for his volume-heavy style and his ability to break opponents down over the course of a fight rather than relying purely on raw power. On the other hand, Conor McGregor is known for picking his shots, using impeccable accuracy, and waiting for openings to counter.

However, ring rust could be a decisive factor, especially given McGregor’s past cardio struggles. Against a volume-heavy striker like Holloway, who relies heavily on pace and endurance, the ‘The Notorious’ could find himself in serious trouble if he fails to land an early knockout.

That said, the UFC 329 headliner promises to deliver a fascinating stylistic matchup between two icons of the sport.
