Gregory Rodrigues Dominates Anthony Hernandez, Calls for Dricus du Plessis Showdown

Gregory Rodrigues, Anthony Hernandez

Gregory ‘Robocop’ Rodrigues produced the biggest win of his UFC career at UFC Sacramento, outlasting Anthony Hernandez over five rounds to secure a unanimous decision victory and immediately call for a showdown with former middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis.

Rodrigues earned the win by scores of 49-46, 48-47 and 48-47, extending his winning streak to four and strengthening his position in the middleweight contender picture.

Gregory Rodrigues Shuts Down Hernandez’s Wrestling

Anthony Hernandez entered the fight looking to impose his trademark pressure and wrestling, but Gregory Rodrigues consistently frustrated his takedown attempts and forced the fight into his preferred striking exchanges.

The Brazilian repeatedly battered Hernandez’s lead leg with calf kicks, dropping ‘Fluffy’ multiple times with the kicks themselves and severely compromising his mobility. The damage allowed Rodrigues to control the striking exchanges and maintain the upper hand for much of the five-round war.

Hernandez found some success with his relentless pressure, particularly in the third round, but Rodrigues regained control in the championship rounds. He continued pressing forward, landing cleaner, heavier shots before finishing the fight strongly.

The victory extends Rodrigues’ run to four consecutive wins and six victories in his last seven fights, following wins over Jack Hermansson, Roman Kopylov and Brunno Ferreira.

‘Robocop’ Wants Dricus du Plessis Next

With his biggest UFC victory now secured, Gregory Rodrigues wasted little time identifying his next target.

The Brazilian called out former UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis inside the Octagon, making it clear that he wants a high-stakes matchup that could put him directly into the title picture. He said:

“Dricus du Plessis where are you man, I want you.”

A fight with du Plessis would represent a major step up for Rodrigues and potentially serve as a title eliminator in a crowded middleweight division.

After dismantling one of the division’s most dangerous wrestlers over 25 minutes, ‘Robocop’ has firmly inserted himself into the contender conversation.
