Jon Jones has revealed one of the more unexpected falling-outs in sports celebrity history.
The former UFC champion shared the story of how a helicopter hunting trip ended his relationship with seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, a man Jones had genuinely admired for years.
“I was so proud of myself because I killed one of the pigs from the helicopter. Lewis saw me shooting the pig and wrote me a long message saying I was a coward. He unfollowed me and blocked me.”
Jones recalled the sequence of events with a clarity that suggests it stuck with him. He was proud of the hunt, shared it publicly, and what followed was not the reaction he expected from someone he looked up to.
Hamilton, a well-documented animal rights advocate and longtime vegan who has used his fame to champion veganism and animal rights, responded with a lengthy private message strongly condemning how Jon Jones had killed the animal.
The message was pointed enough that Lewis Hamilton chose to sever the connection entirely, unfollowing and blocking Jones on social media immediately after.
